Raritan Canoe Race
I completed the Delaware and Raritan Canal Canoe Race yesterday with my Dad and oldest son A. It was a gorgeous day for a canoe race - ~65 degrees and sunny. I will say the water was freezing so other than cold feet at portages we stayed dry.
The race itself is VERY informal and a quick 10.6 miles along the canal. There were a variety of boats - kayaks, C-2's, even Olympic canoes where the paddlers did all 10 miles on one knee. Personally, we race in a cedar strip canoe named the "Slenda Glenda". This was the same boat that I did the Long Lake Boat Regatta in a few years ago. It was a lot of fun and great to race with both my dad and A.
Also, it was great to get moving again. After 6 weeks of limited activity, hopefully this will get my butt in gear again.
