Ironman Poconos 69.1

Just got the disappointing news that they canceled the swim portion of the race due to high water, fast current, and debris floating down the river.  In the past I would have been thrilled to not have to swim but after training for the swim for so long I want to do it.  Now I have to sign up for another race to officially complete a 70.3.  I am thinking of the Syracuse one next year - Ironman Syracuse.

Countdown to Ironman 70.3

So only three days left until the Ironman 70.3 Pocono Mountians. Butterflies hit every time I see the word Ironman.  There is speculation that the swim might be canceled, I really hope it isn't so I don't have the first time nerves again.  On the positive side the weather is right up my alley - low 50's.

Ironman Poconos Athlete Guide

They released the athlete guide and when reading it last night I noticed they listed the following item under the running section:

"1. No form of locomotion other than running, walking or crawling is allowed. "

I love how crawling is listed as an approved method of traveling the course - here is hoping I don't need that one.

Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon

I ran the Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sunday in 1:38:31, was hoping to break my PR of 1:37:19 but missed it.  I was on pace until mile 8 and lost all of my time between miles 8-10.  Overall race was good, two blisters were the biggest irritation of the day.

Also this was Carrie's ran first half-marathon, she did great and finished with our friends Jim and Jessica.
